ACTW Appoint CEO
Meg Wilson formally takes the reins
The ACT Writers Centre (ACTW) is delighted to announce that it has officially appointed arts and writing advocate, Meg Wilson, to the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Ms Wilson has been acting as the ‘interim Director’ of ACTW since February 2020, following the departure of former Director, Paul Bissett. From 4 December 2020, Ms Wilson’s leadership of ACTW has been formalised under the updated mantle of CEO.
“After an extensive national, competitive hiring process, we’re thrilled to appoint Meg Wilson as CEO of ACT Writers. Meg is an experienced arts administrator who has expertly managed the Centre through the turbulent period marked by COVID-19. She also brings strong networks from within Canberra’s literary community, a passion for advocating for writers from all backgrounds, and a vibrant vision for the future of the Australian arts sector,” ACTW Chair, Sophie Mannix, said.
Ms Wilson, who has an arts and advertising background, said her focus remains on ensuring inclusivity, stability and excellent creative programming for ACTW.
“I am so excited to continue working with the incredibly talented and dedicated team at ACT Writers to produce quality programs that foster creative and professional development, serve as a reputable conduit between writers and the publishing sector and demonstrate the impact writers’ centres can have on the broader arts ecology.” She said.
“ACTW has recalibrated its focus in order to serve the sector’s evolving needs. We’re increasing the amount of professional development opportunities and pathways for writers available online, as well as significantly increasing the diversity of our program experts and facilitators. Increasing and improving accessibility to our resources and offerings in all forms is a priority moving forward.”
Ms Wilson said elevating the level of collaborative engagement with ACT region arts bodies, artists and businesses is also a key focus.
“We are lucky to have some fantastic partners and peers, and we’ll be concertedly strengthening connections and key relationships throughout the sector.”
