Between The Lines
Presented by ACT Writers, Between the Lines is a facilitated online book group for writers with an active practice. Over the course of six (6), monthly sessions running from July to December 2022, prominent authors who are experienced facilitators will lead participants through a series of conversations about books on a carefully curated list. The focus will be on authorial technique, achievement and literary context, rather than subjective opinions on whether or not the book is ‘good’ or ‘bad’. Each session will include ample time for questions, and participants will be encouraged to consider how reading that month’s text could influence their own work.
Applications for the Between The Lines Program are due by noon Friday 1 July 2022
In 2022 there will be a combined fiction/nonfiction stream. The sessions will be held from 6.30pm-8.30pm on a Wednesday each month. All sessions held digitally via Zoom. For privacy reasons, the sessions will not be recorded.
Cost:
For members of ACT Writers (or members of another writers centre), the cost is $275 for the six sessions. For non-members, the cost is $345. Members have priority application, if you wish to join you can do so here. There are no concession places available and payment must be received in full prior to commencing the program. Participants will be responsible for accessing copies of the selected works.
Who the program is for:
Between the Lines is designed for writers with an active practice. By that we mean writers who can demonstrate a commitment to writing – this might be through a publication track record, and/or attendance in writing workshops, and/or submitting work to competitions. You do not need to be an established writer; you just need to show that you are committed to ongoing development, and committed also to reading deeply in order to progress technique. Places are limited to 14 to maximise discussion and participants will be expected to attend all sessions in order to get full value out of the program.
