The Australian Poetry Slam is program that runs in every state and territory across Australia, the winner from this months slam will be the ACT champion and go on to the National final!

Our winner this month will be representing the territory at the Sydney Opera House and have the chance to be crowned the champion of Australia's largest program for writers who perform.

Expect to the see the best performers in Canberra brave the stage and battle it out for the title.

The big one is keep your poem to 2 minutes - otherwise you will LOSE POINTS.
Timer begins at your first word, so leave out any introductions.
Top 5 from first round go through to the final.
There are two rounds on the night, prepare two poems.

For those new to our community, a slam looks like …

A round of open mic performances.

Judges, randomly selected from the audience and a winner announced at the end of the night.

A feature set from a nationally recognised performer.

Canberra Slam is a safe space.

All are welcomed and encouraged to share their stories, no matter what race, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious belief or diversity in experience.

We emphasise ALL are welcomed and encouraged to share their stories - naturally, there's always potential for tension.

We are a community, made up of a complex mix of humans from all walks of life, together, we can do our best to navigate this safely as a community.
