Join Amy Remeikis in conversation with news.com.au Political Editor Samantha Maiden

On Reckoning tells of the moment when the personal became very political, when rape became the national conversation.

The Guardian's political reporter Amy Remeikis has spoken before about being a survivor of sexual assault. But when Brittany Higgins went public with her own story in February 2021, she ripped the curtain back on political attempts to manage real-world issues and highlighted how unsafe women can be, even inside the most protected building in the country.

Amy didn't expect to see political leaders fumble the moment so completely. What followed was the unleashing of long-held fear and anger as people took back the conversation from the politicians.

On Reckoning is a searing account of Amy's personal and professional rage. It takes you inside the parliament – and out – during one of the most confronting and uncomfortable conversations in recent memory.

IN CONVERSATION

3–4pm Sunday 27 Mar 2022

Amy Remeikis is the political reporter for The Guardian. She writes on the major political issues in Australia, crime, the courts and the environment. She is a regular panellist on the ABC's Insiders program and was the inaugural nominee for the Young Walkley awards.
