In over an hour of conversation, facilitated by Canberra author and Shirley-Jackson Award-winner, Kaaron Warren, Victoria delved into her unique career as a writer (the only thing she’s really ever been) and the ways she has honed her voice as a singular, beloved author.

From what she does when she hits a sticky bit of writing, to that time she contemplated wiping out a host of major characters in one of her best-known series, Victoria shared candid and funny moments with her audience. She also examined the strategy behind her legendary world-building, and its uses specifically in relation to building better characters, and more convincing conflicts.

The ACT Writers Centre would like to thank its event partner, Dymocks Canberra, venue partner, the Gorman Arts Centre, and Victoria’s publishers, New South Books, for bringing her to a very appreciative Canberra crowd.
