What Will You Make Today

Book Launch: Maura Pierlot & Triandhika Anjani

1pm Saturday 24 June

Together with Canberra based publishers Storytorch Press, the Book Cow are celebrating the launch of What Will You Make Today? by two Canberra-based creators - author Maura Pierlot and illustrator Triandhika Anjani.

The launch will be at the gardens at LESS at Dairy Road, outside Kidzplore, on Dairy Road Fyshwick.

What Will You Make Today? is a children's non-fiction picture book that calls upon young people to question what it is they want to do on their own journeys. It is simple in its approach using open-ended questions yet takes the reader on a complex journey of empowerment and youth leadership where adults are nowhere to be seen in solving the crisis of the day.

In the world of Pierlot's book, a group of children camping find themselves motivated to clean up a forest of litter and restore nature's balance but take away these illustrations and you could apply this same storyline to any crisis or problem. At the back of the book, Pierlot offers a child-centred approach to what every educator will recognise as the 6Cs of 21st Century Leaming (Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication, Creativity, Citizenship and Character).

Maura Pierlot is an award-winning author, playwright and filmmaker based in Canberra. Maura's widely acclaimed play Fragments is now a book and web series. Maura writes across art forms for children and adults. She is the founder of The Book Bench Project, a Canberra initiative celebrating reading and she has a Ph.D. in philosophy, specialising in ethics.
