Ginsights with Sam Guthrie

6-8pm Thursday 24 July

On Thursday 24 July from 6-8 pm, Big River Distilling Co and paperchain bookstore will host Ginsights with guest author Sam Guthrie. Sam’s debut novel The Peak will be released on 2 July. The Peak is a nail bitingly tense thriller that travels from the jostling streets of Hong Kong to Beijing’s shadowy halls of power and the backstabbing Machiavellian workings of Parliament House in Canberra.

Sam writes international political thrillers based on his experience working at the nexus of business, politics, and international diplomacy. His character-driven fiction explores the human desires and frailties that shape world-altering events, drawing on an insider’s knowledge of the machinations of power, political intrigue, and the geostrategic challenges confronting the global order.

For anyone who follows world affairs this will be the Ginsights for you.

We will be serving a signature cocktail in honour of Sam's visit, a Peak Negroni featuring Big River Mandarin Gin – that combines zesty fresh mandarin peel with the tingle of Sichuan pepper.

All are welcome to come along to join this informal reader/writer conversation at Big River, 1 Dairy Road, Fyshwick. Use Entry 2 off Dairy Road and park in carpark P4. Bookings required tickets $10 per person.
