Ginsights with Dr Rachel Matthews

On Thursday 6 February 2025 from 6-8 pm Big River Distilling Co and Paperchain Bookstore will host Ginsights with guest author Dr Rachel Matthews, a Melbourne-based author who has published three widely acclaimed novels and teaches writing in universities and through community based workshops in Australia and overseas.
Her most recent novel, Never Look Desperate is a post-lockdown tragi-comedy that tackles the absurdity of despair in a recovering world, the liberation from isolation and the wild frontier of middle-aged Tinder.
Rachel's other published works include Vinyl Inside (2023) a quirky, bittersweet story of Elise and Sterling and caravan park life in the 1980s, highly commended in the Australian Vogel awards; and Siren (2017) a powerful and haunting novel about cultural stereotypes and expectations, love, loneliness, family and our struggle to connect whilst subtly sounding the siren on sexual violence and its prevalence in our culture.
All are welcome to come along to join this informal reader/writer conversation at Big River Distillery, Tenancy 3 Building 3 at 1 Dairy Road Fyshwick. Use Entry 2 off Dairy Rd and park in carpark P4.
