Kimberly Williams and Harry Laing

The next in Geoff Page’s monthly readings will feature two poets well-known to Canberrans: Kimberly Williams and Harry Laing.
Kimberly Williams has three books of poetry and one book of poetic translations in Spanish, which came out in 2024. Her second poetry book, Sometimes a Woman, won the 2022 WILLA Literary Award for Poetry (USA). Her third book, Still Lives, won a Canberra Critics Award in 2023 and was short-listed for the ACT Poetry Book of the Year. She is also one of the hosts of ArtSound FM’s Poetry on the Radio. She has been published in anthologies and journals around the world. Kimberly is originally from Detroit, Michigan and is a lecturer at Central Queensland University.
Harry Laing is a poet, comic performer and children’s author. Time of Fire, his fourth collection, an account of his experience of the 2019/ 20 fires (both as a landholder and member of the RFS) was published in August 2023. He’s recently been exploring other themes and arenas far removed from the drama of the fires. Harry also has three books of poetry for children to his name, Shoctopus, MoonFish and RapperBee. Together with poet Nicola Bowery he runs the PoetryAlive poetry weekends. Harry lives beside Monga National Park near Braidwood.
