New ArtSound Partnership

Join ACTW on the airwaves each month for WordCast

ACT Writers are thrilled to be regularly reaching radio listeners through ArtSound FM’s Arts Café program, hosted by Neil Doody.

ArtSound FM (FM 92.7, FM 90.3) is an independent, locally focused community arts and music station powered by the Canberra community, and provides a fantastic home for ACT Writers to connect with ACT-region arts audiences.

“We’ve named the new ACT Writers slot WordCast, as it’s a window for us to reach out to Canberra’s diverse network of people interested in what we’re doing to support writers and readers, as well as happenings in the broader writing, publishing and creative landscape,” ACT Writers CEO, Meg Wilson, said.

“Earlier this year, ACT Writers announced that it would be adopting a digital model, and no longer have a physical headquarters,” Ms Wilson explained. “Having a radio presence and connecting with ArtSound listeners is a great way to remind audiences of what we’re up to and how to connect with us. It also reflects the value we place on creating forums to celebrate the achievements of our region’s writers.” She said.

WordCast features ACT Writers staff on rotation recording at Arts Café each month. The program airs every week-day at noon, straight after the news, and listeners will be able to catch WordCast on Mondays (with some replays throughout the week) and on Arts About, the weekly digest of arts content broadcast on Sundays at 1pm.

“It’s a real pleasure to have a Key Arts Organisation like ACT Writers featured, and it incorporates a really important element of the ACT arts landscape in our programming,” Mr Doody said.

“Arts Café has been bringing rich perspectives, across art-forms to ACT listeners for over 20 years, while ACT Writers also has a long history in our arts scene, so it’s a great fit,” he said.
