Katy Mutton formally takes the helm
MARION announces the appointment of creative arts advocate Katy Mutton to the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

“Following a competitive hiring process, the MARION board is thrilled to announce Katy Mutton as the organisation’s new CEO. Katy unites a love for our region’s creatives with a strong background in arts and not-for-profit governance. We are delighted to see her step into this role from her former position of Strategic Design Manager.” said MARION Chair, Emma Batchelor.
Ms Mutton has been ‘Interim CEO’ following the departure of former CEO, Meg Wilson. Ms Mutton is well-known to many in the ACT creative sector and beyond, with an established creative practice and extensive professional experience across the arts.
“I am delighted to have been appointed as MARION’s new CEO, and particularly at such an exciting time for the organisation. The past few years have brought significant change for many organisations in the ACT and while it has been a challenging period in which to navigate our circumstances, particularly in the arts sector, it has also presented huge opportunities to review how artistic programs are run and explore exciting new possibilities for collaboration and allyship with other organisations.” said Ms Mutton who has worked for MARION, formerly ACT Writers, since 2019 and played a pivotal role in the recent rebranding of the organisation.
“Katy replaces outgoing CEO Meg Wilson whose strong and compassionate leadership steered the organisation through the difficulties of the pandemic into our rebranding as MARION, an organisation dedicated to elevating writers and their art. The board thanks Meg for their care and dedication and is excited to continue engaging with them as a member.” said MARION Chair, Emma Batchelor.
Ms Mutton said “It’s an honour to take the helm following the tenure of MARION’s former CEO Meg Wilson who has been such a positive force for elevating our sector. I feel privileged to continue this work, supporting opportunities for our region’s writers and nurturing a landscape in which creative experimentation can thrive and new and exciting partnerships can develop.”
