Finding Beauty Poetry Prize

Inspiring Emerging Poets to Find Beauty in Nature

MARION is delighted to announce that entries are now open for the second year of the Finding Beauty Poetry Prize.

2026 PRIZE THEME
Finding Beauty in Human Interaction

The Finding Beauty Poetry Prize for emerging poets was established in memory of Roger Green, an environmental advocate, writer and editor, and a deep thinker who loved poetry. Roger believed that beauty has the power to alleviate fear and hardship, and to offer hope and inspiration.

PRIZES

  • First Prize – AUD $5,000

  • Second Prize – AUD $2,000

  • Shortlisted poets – AUD $750 each

MARION gratefully acknowledges the generous support of Roger Green’s family, whose contribution has made this inaugural prize possible. Their support will provide invaluable encouragement to emerging poets in the ACT region, fostering new voices and perspectives in Australian poetry.

In 2026, the Finding Beauty Poetry Prize invites poets to explore Finding Beauty, in Human Interaction, a theme chosen by Roger Green’s family. With a first prize of $5,000, the prize celebrates the small but powerful gestures that define us, a shared meal, a moment of care, an unseen kindness, continuing Roger’s legacy through poetry.
