AGM Nominations
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - 6pm Tuesday 18 April 2023
Chris Huet | Endorsed by Emma Batchelor
MARION is a vital organisation for writers in the ACT, uniquely supporting an under-recognised part of the arts. The centre has successfully become a digital organisation and now faces challenges in a tight funding environment. To continue providing its essential services, MARION needs to find broader sources of funding, embrace online programs and think creatively. As a current board member and the Secretary of MARION, I’ve contributed my commercial experience running a business, not-for-profit experience engaging partners, and creative experience as a spoken word artist. Using this know-how, I’ve helped MARION develop its strategy and complete grant and funding applications.
Jacqueline de Rose-Ahern | Endorsed by Deb Stevens
I am an international award-winning author, creative coach and recipient of the 2017 Anne Edgeworth Fellowship. I served on the MARION board previously. I work in international affairs and hold a Masters in International Development. My vision for MARION is for it to continue its trajectory as the leading organisation for writing in the ACT region, with a strong focus on advocacy, community outreach and inclusion. Through opportunities for aspiring, emerging and professional writers, the organisation can augment the industry, nurturing and inspiring those it serves, breaking down barriers, enabling meaningful collaboration within the region and across the creative arena.=

I would be honoured to serve on the Board of Marion, to contribute my skills and expertise to driving this exciting new chapter for the organisation. I have been writing and creating on Ngunnawal and Ngambri country since the early 2000s, and have a history of driving the growth of Canberra's literary community. I was the Editor-In-Chief of Lip Magazine (which was founded in Canberra) from 2010 - 2014, and also founded literary journal Feminartsy which operated in Canberra from 2014 - 2019. Through both of these appointments, I nurtured numerous writers and published hundreds of pieces. I am a twice-published author, and have experience at a national level, including as a Judge and Chair of the Stella Prize in 2020 and 2021, and also as a Judge in the NSW Premier's Literary Awards in 2022. I have a decade of experience in marketing, communications and fundraising, and can bring these skills to serve Marion.

Voting will occur online. The Chair will call for votes, and a link will be provided with information about each nominee. Please select one candidate as your first preference, then another as second preference, and so forth. These votes will be tallied, and a record will be kept.
